"World War 3 Has Started," Says Ukraine's Former Military Commander Amid Ongoing Russia Conflict

Currently serving as Ukraine's envoy to the United Kingdom, Mr. Zaluzhny highlighted the direct involvement of Russia's autocratic allies as a key factor in the war's global escalation.

Valery Zaluzhny, the former Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s military, believes that World War III has already begun, citing the active involvement of Russia's allies as evidence of the conflict's global escalation.

"I firmly believe that by 2024, we can consider the Third World War to have started," Mr. Zaluzhny stated during a speech at the Ukrainska Pravda's UP100 award ceremony.

Now serving as Ukraine's envoy to the United Kingdom, Mr. Zaluzhny emphasized the crucial role of Russia’s autocratic allies in widening the scope of the war.

"Soldiers from North Korea are now on the front lines in Ukraine. Let’s be clear. Iranian 'Shahedis' are openly killing civilians in Ukraine, without any shame," he added, highlighting the involvement of North Korean troops and Chinese weapons in the conflict.

Riley Gaines

Riley Gaines

Born

Riley Marie Gaines (born April 21, 2000), also known as Riley Gaines Barker, is an American political activist and former swimmer, recognized for her advocacy against the inclusion of trans women in women's sports. A 12-time NCAA All-American, Gaines competed for the University of Kentucky's NCAA swim team before retiring from athletics to focus on her activism.

Since 2023, she has hosted the weekly podcast Gaines for Girls on Outkick and Fox Nation.

Early life

Gaines was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, in a family with a strong sports background. Her father, Brad Gaines, played football at Vanderbilt University, while her mother, Telisha Gaines, played softball at Donelson Christian Academy and Austin Peay. Gaines attended Station Camp High School in Gallatin, Tennessee. In 2017, during her junior year, she won the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle events at the TISCA High School Swim & Dive Championship in Knoxville.

College Athletics

Gaines joined the University of Kentucky’s swim team and was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team in 2019. She also earned spots on the All-SEC Second Team in both 2019 and 2020. At the 2021 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships, she placed second in the 4 × 200-yard freestyle relay and seventh in the 200 freestyle, earning a place on the All-SEC First Team that year. Additionally, Gaines qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2021 and was named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022.

In 2022, during the 200-yard NCAA freestyle championship, Gaines tied for fifth place with University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, who had made history as the first openly transgender woman to win an NCAA women’s championship in the 500-yard freestyle. Gaines later revealed that Thomas had shared a locker room with the female swimmers while still having male genitalia, and that the championship trophy was initially intended for Thomas "for photo purposes," leaving Gaines to receive her own trophy later by mail. This incident marked the beginning of Gaines’s activism.

Activism

Gaines has been a vocal advocate against the inclusion of transgender women in women’s sports. In April 2022, she lobbied her state representatives to pass a law banning transgender women from competing in women’s sports.

In September 2022, Gaines appeared in a TV ad supporting U.S. Senator Rand Paul's campaign, where she expressed her opposition to trans women in women’s athletics.

By January 2023, Gaines had taken part in a protest at the NCAA Convention, appeared in campaign ads for former U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker, and spoken at a rally for Donald Trump.

In March 2023, Gaines was invited to speak at a Texas Senate committee hearing, where she voiced her support for legislation aimed at prohibiting transgender college athletes from competing in sports that align with their gender identity.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul results, highlights: Round-by-round analysis for Netflix fight

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Results & Highlights – Round-by-Round Analysis

The highly anticipated showdown between boxing legends Mike Tyson and Jake Paul took place on Netflix, and the bout lived up to its dramatic expectations. With Tyson, a former undisputed heavyweight champion, facing the brash social media star-turned-fighter Jake Paul, the stakes were high. Here’s a breakdown of the fight, round by round.

Round 1: Tyson's Power and Experience Shine

The fight kicked off with Tyson coming out aggressive, using his trademark head movement and explosive power to control the ring. Paul, in contrast, was cautious, clearly respecting Tyson’s speed and strength. Tyson landed several solid jabs early, and a right hook in the final seconds of the round made Paul take a step back, signaling Tyson’s dominance. Tyson 10-9 Paul.

Round 2: Paul Shows Signs of Strategy

Jake Paul seemed to adjust in the second round, employing more movement and trying to use his reach advantage. He was able to land a couple of jabs, and his corner appeared to calm his nerves. However, Tyson’s experience showed as he continued to press the action, landing a clean left hook that seemed to rattle Paul. Paul was resilient but still struggled to get his rhythm. Tyson 10-9 Paul.

Round 3: Jake Paul Gains Confidence

In the third round, Paul began to land a few more shots, finding a bit of success with his straight right hand. Tyson, however, remained in control, countering well with his legendary head movement and uppercuts. There was a notable moment when Paul backed Tyson into the ropes but failed to capitalize fully. Tyson’s body shots were starting to wear on Paul, but Jake showed some grit in not backing down. Tyson 10-9 Paul.

Round 4: Tyson Dominates With Power

Tyson came out swinging in the fourth, displaying his characteristic ferocity. A brutal right uppercut to Paul’s chin had the younger fighter in trouble, and he staggered back, trying to regain his footing. Tyson smelled blood and closed the distance, throwing bombs. Paul showed heart, surviving the onslaught, but Tyson controlled every aspect of the round. Tyson 10-8 Paul.

Round 5: Paul's Resilience Under Fire

Despite taking significant damage in the previous round, Jake Paul came out in the fifth with more movement and tried to establish his jab. Tyson, however, was still relentless, and his pressure was unyielding. Paul’s face showed signs of swelling, but he managed to land a few counters and showed the heart of a fighter. Tyson, though, was clearly ahead, landing a huge right hand towards the end of the round that left Paul momentarily dazed. Tyson 10-9 Paul.

Round 6: The Tide Turns—Paul Finds His Moment

Jake Paul, showing incredible composure, made a surprising turnaround in the sixth. He used his jab to keep Tyson at bay and even connected with a sharp right hand that seemed to momentarily throw Tyson off his rhythm. Tyson’s pace slowed slightly, possibly due to the toll of the fight. Paul capitalized on the opening, landing more clean shots than in previous rounds. Tyson looked a bit frustrated, but Paul ended the round on a high note. Paul 10-9 Tyson

Sheinbaum describes her journey as a historic milestone, as it marks the first time a woman has been nominated for the presidency of Mexico, 70 years after women gained the right to vote in the country.

She said, "This victory is not mine alone. It belongs to every woman in Mexico. I will rise above all forms of racism and patriarchy to represent every woman in this country."

Sheinbaum won the June election in a landslide, securing nearly 60% of the vote. With the Morena Party holding a commanding majority in both houses of Congress, she is expected to govern with unprecedented political power.

After being sworn in as president, Sheinbaum outlined her administration's key commitments, including raising the minimum wage, improving pensions, and gradually reducing the workweek from 48 hours to 40 hours.

She also pledged to strengthen economic integration in North America and capitalize on the opportunities provided by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

500-Year-Old Portuguese Shipwreck Unearthed in Namibian Desert Yields Gold Coins and Treasures

500-Year-Old Portuguese Shipwreck Unearthed in Namibian Desert Yields Gold Coins and Treasures.

In 2008, diamond miners working in the Namibian desert made a remarkable discovery while draining an artificial lake. They uncovered the wreck of a Portuguese ship, the Bom Jesus (The Good Jesus), which had been lost in 1533 while en route to India.

On March 7, 1533, the Bom Jesus set sail from Lisbon bound for India, carrying gold coins, ivory, copper, and other valuables. During the voyage, it was caught in a severe storm and tragically lost.

An estimated $13 million worth of gold coins, copper coins, bronze cannons, and other artifact's were recovered from the shipwreck.

Dieter Noli, the chief archaeologist of the South African Maritime Archaeological Research Institute, led the discovery.

He explained that the copper coins played a crucial role in preserving the shipwreck, as copper is unappealing to marine life, helping to protect the remains over time.

For years, he had told the miners that they would eventually uncover a shipwreck and to notify him when they did.

When the miners finally unearthed pieces of metal, wood, and pipes, they called in Noli.

These findings allowed archaeologists to recover thousands of Portuguese and Spanish gold coins, bronze cannons, copper coins, ivory, navigational instruments, cooking tools, swords, and firearms.

The location of the shipwreck remains is kept secret, and plans are in place to eventually showcase them in a future museum.

Hassan Nasrallah

Hassan Nasrallah (Arabic: حسن نصر الله [ħasan nasˤrɑɫɫɑh]; born August 31, 1960) is a Lebanese cleric who serves as the secretary-general of Hezbollah, a Shia Islamist political and militant organization.

Born in 1960 to a Shia family in the suburbs of Beirut, Hassan Nasrallah completed his education in Tyre, where he briefly joined the Amal Movement. He then pursued studies at a Shia seminary in Baalbek and later taught at an Amal-affiliated school. Nasrallah became involved with Hezbollah, a group formed in response to the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon. After a period of religious study in Iran, he returned to Lebanon and assumed leadership of Hezbollah in 1992, following the assassination of his predecessor in an Israeli airstrike.

Under Hassan Nasrallah's leadership, Hezbollah acquired longer-range rockets, enabling them to strike northern Israel. Israel's heavy casualties during its 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon led to its withdrawal in 2000, significantly boosting Hezbollah's popularity and influence within Lebanon. However, Hezbollah faced local and regional criticism for its role in ambushing an Israeli border patrol prior to the 2006 Lebanon War. During the Syrian civil war, Hezbollah aligned with the Syrian army, with Nasrallah framing the conflict as a fight against "Islamist extremists."

On September 27, 2024, an IDF spokesperson announced that the Israeli Air Force had targeted Hezbollah's main headquarters in Beirut in an attempt to assassinate Hassan Nasrallah. A source affiliated with Hezbollah initially told Reuters that Nasrallah was alive, while Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that he was safe. A senior Iranian security official also informed Reuters that Iran was in the process of confirming his condition. Meanwhile, Israeli sources suggested that they believed Nasrallah may have been killed in the airstrike.

Hurricane

 Hurricane Danger For Florida

Hurricane and tropical storm watches have been issued for parts of Florida, with the system expected to strengthen into a hurricane by Wednesday in the Gulf of Mexico. Most forecast models predict landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast or the northern Gulf Coast by Thursday. The hurricane could be intense at landfall, bringing life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. Impacts are expected to extend inland across parts of the southern U.S. through Friday.

A storm surge watch is in effect for parts of Florida, including Tampa Bay and Charlotte Harbor. Water levels could rise as much as 10-15 feet in the Big Bend area, while Tampa Bay may see 5-8 feet of storm surge. Although the highest surge will occur near the storm's center, much of Florida’s western coast will experience elevated water levels above normal.
